Mr. Alphonso Shelf, 82, son of the late Mary and Alphonso Jones was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday July 7, 2025.

Alphonso worked for Saint Paul's Episcopal Church for 22 years where he retired. He was a hard worker, with a big heart and a smile that lit up a room.

Mr. Shelf leaves cherished memories to his loving wife of the home Elsie Shelf; four sons. Eric Brown, Derrick Brown, Raymont Brown, and Cllnton Brown; two daughters, Kristie Brown and Cheryl Bradshaw; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister, Vickie Jones of Winston-Salem; two brothers, Andrew (Anna) Jones of Raleigh, NC and Darryl (Yvette) Jones of Charleston, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

He will be truly missed by his family.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30pm Friday July 18, 2025 in the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 3:00pm-3:30pm
