Obituary

On Monday, December 21, 2020; Alvin ¨Toodie¨ Wilson, loving husband, father, brother, and friend to many, passed away at the age of 72. Alvin was born February 17, 1948 to the late Andrew Wilson, Sr. and Mary Jane (Barlow) Wilson in Roanoke, VA. In his youth years, Alvin attended Lucy Addison High School in Roanoke, VA.

In 2005, Alvin became a member of the Winston Salem/Forsyth County community where he served as the Senior Lead Chef for Aramark on the Campus of Wake Forest University until his health declined in 2013. He married his soul mate Cynthia (Simmons) Wilson of Winston Salem on May 25th, 2012--and the union of the two beautiful families merged and became as one: "The Wilsons".

Alvin is survived by his wife (Cynthia) and a blended family of 5 children along with a highly devoted mother-in-law, Barbara A. Frost of (Winston Salem). The children he has left behind are Brigette (Sean) Easley and Alvin Wilson Jr. both of Roanoke, Virginia; Demont Simmons, Kirk Scales, and Demecia Scales, all of Winston Salem, NC. He was also survived by a supportive sibling (his brother), Andrew Wilson, Jr. along with Michael (Sandra) Wilson and Albert Wilson, all of Roanoke, VA; and a very loving sister, Linda (Tony) Wilson-Wallace of Knoxville, TN; three brothers-in-law, Timothy (Ervinia) Anthony of Norfolk, VA , Terence (Jewell) Anthony of Goose Creek, SC, and Keewanee Frost of Kernersville, NC; and a host of grands, cousins, and extended family and friends abroad.

Honorable mentions that were truly near and dear to him are, Xadyn Scales (grandson) of Winston Salem--  as he would call him "his partner for life", Andrew (Christy)Wilson III of Roanoke, a dedicated niece Marshina Wilson of Knoxville, TN, and an outstanding friend, Cedric Allen.

Alvin was an avid music lover and enjoyed Sunday Night Football with his Atlanta Falcons.  He was known by his quick wit, his infectious smile, his kind and compassionate spirit for life, and others that surrounded him.  He will genuinely be missed.
