Obituary

Mrs. Anika Sharonda Edwards, age 41, departed this life on Monday, May 27, 2024, on Memorial Day. She had just recently been transferred to a rehab center from Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center while still recovering from open heart surgery she had back in April.

Mrs. Edwards was born December 6, 1982, in Winston Salem, NC to parents Vivian Howard and Memphis Crockett (who preceded her in death). She attended R.J. Reynolds High School and later received her high school diploma from Brittain Academy of High Point.

Mrs. Edwards worked as a CNA for most of her adult life and was a member of Saints Home United Methodist Church up until her passing.

Over the years, Mrs. Edwards developed a long list of health problems that made it difficult at times to do things in life she once enjoyed. She fought colon cancer, along with kidney failure that required her being on dialysis. Most recently she developed issues with the valves in her heart that we were hopeful surgery would help to correct.

Even with all that she went through, Mrs. Edwards rarely complained. She would still give advice and help her family and friends with problems time and time again. She was most definitely the rock of her family.

She fought valiantly until the very end and will be remembered for her strong faith in God and core values as a strong wife and mother.

She leaves behind her husband of 14 years, Brian Edwards, 4 children; Tray Crockett, Allissa Edwards, Braylon Edwards, Aniela Edwards, Mother; Vivian Howard, Sisters; Tanisha Crockett, Tajuanna Crockett, Erika Bumbrey, Brothers; Tyrone Johnson, Tojuan Crockett, Mario Crockett; Stepsisters, Quontarsha Farmer, Torshekia Howard, Shaquana Farmer. She also leaves behind a long list of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as many other relatives and friends that will miss her deeply

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday June 8, 2024 at Saints Homes United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 11:30am-12:00 pm at the church.
