Anna Lee Hairston Horton was born August 18, 1934 to the late Walter and Alma Hairston in Forsyth County. Following a period of illness  she departed this life Monday morning November 6, 2023.

Anna was educated in the Forsyth County school system. Her profession and hobby was cooking. She catered for weddings, private parties and church socials.  She was very fond of hosting the missionary circle meetings. She could remember recipes effortlessly and tell you exactly what you did wrong if the recipe failed. Cakes were her passion and she was well known for her pound cakes, German chocolate cakes and fresh coconut cakes.

Anna was frank and fearless. She loved family and the company of making friends. She had a subtle way of making folks laugh.  She was a faithful and devoted member of Providence Baptist Church where she gave dutifully of her presence, gifts and service for as long as her health permitted.

Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred R. Horton Sr.; sons, Roosevelt Haizlip Jr., Steven Haizlip; and grandson Jermaine Haizlip.

She leaves to cherish fond memories to her daughters, Carolyn (Willie) Thomas and Belinda Haizlip; son, Ghali (Tonya) Hasan; stepson, Alfred (Linda) Horton Jr.; daughter-in-law, Anna B. Haizlip; sisters, Helen Horton, Janet(Isaiah) Timberlake; sister-in-law, Euphalia(James) Farrah; brothers-in-law, Richard(Janice)Horton, Kermit Degrafferendt; grandchildren, Terrence Claggett, Kevin Martin, Monika Haizlip, Tonya Haizlip, Tyra Haizlip, Pia (Tyson) Hildebrandt, Tia(Deantuan) Fuller, Carolyn B. Haizlip, Chrishon Mumford, Tiffany Wilson, Soncerae Hasan, Paris( Tyquarius) Wright and Willie Thomas III;  over 28  great grandchildren; special niece, Shonda(Ray) Inge; a host of other nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 pm Friday November 17, 2023 at Providence Baptist Church, 319 Nelson St. Kernersville, NC.  The family will receive friends from 11:30am-12:00pm at the church. Interment will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory, Kernersville, NC. Her remains may be viewed Thursday November 16, 2023 from 12pm-6pm at the funeral home.
