Ms. Annie Deloris Burgess, 71, departed this life Wednesday November 8, 2023 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist. She was born to the late Peter and Louvenia Burgess in Kingstree, South Carolina on April 30, 1952. She later moved to Winston-Salem, NC where she worked at Adam Mills/Sara Lee for 30+ years before retiring.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sibling Wilbur Junior Burgess.

She leaves behind cherished memories with her daughter, Shamika Burgess; grandchildren, Lashay Johnson, Daquan Richmond; adopted grandchild, Virginia Renee Austin; great granddaughter Khalani Miller; siblings. Pearlie Mae Fleming(Toot) of Sumpter, SC, Leola Williams(Dolly) of Winston-Salem, NC, Joe Burgess of Lake City, SC and Lou Woodruff(Angie) of Winston-Salem, NC; partner David Joyner(Teenie). As well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday November 18, 2023 in the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm-1:00pm at the funeral home on Saturday. Interment will follow in Gardens of Memory, Walkertown, NC. Her remains may be viewed Friday November 17, 2023 from 9am-6pm at the funeral home.
