Ms. Annie Ruth Cook Singletary was born October 16, 1945 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to the late James Joshua and Lillian Cuffie Cook. She was a lifelong resident of the city and attended the WSFC public schools. Ms. Singletary was a retiree of the Forsyth County Social services. She loved reading, shopping and traveling.
Spiritually she was member of Greater Galilee Missionary Baptist Church where she was member of the spiritual choir. Ms. Singletary was preceded in death by her husband, James Singletary; one daughter, Sheila Cook; and three brothers, Treasure Cook, James C. Cook and Willie C. Jones.
Ms. Singletary departed this life Tuesday December 19, 2023 at her residence.
She is survived by her three sons, Bernard Cook, Darrell(Kim) Cook and Kenneth Cook; a host of grandchildren including devoted grandchildren, Shakeeta Wright, Natese Cook, Adrian Clinton, Jr., Kenjames Lewis and Shambria Lewis; a host of great grandchildren; two sisters, Catherine( Marshall) Brown and Addie(Vinson) Wagner; a brother, Eugene(Bessie) Cook; a host of nieces, including a devoted niece, Lectrice Adams; a host of nephews ; other relatives and friends, including special friends, Willie Moody & family and Gloria Morgan.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm Saturday December 30, 2023 at Greater Galilee Missionary Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 11:30 am-12:00 pm at the church. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.
