Annie Elizabeth Peoples Stewart, 81, was born April 29, 1940 to Charlie and Ophelia Peoples in Winston Salem, NC. She went to her heavenly home on March 5, 2022. She attended the local schools and worked as a Supervisor at Novant Health in the Dietary department for 32 years.

She was a faithful member of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church for more than 40 years.  There she was a faithful member of the Nurses Board for over 40 years, having served as secretary and treasurer. She was also a member of the Sunshine Gang; the Wednesday morning prayer group and the Mother's Board.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, four brothers and her husband, Henry Stewart to whom she was married to for 60 years.  She leaves to cherish her memories her 7 children and spouses- John (Gwen) Stewart, Debra (Michael) Gentry, Ralph Stewart, Alice Carter, Grady (JoAnne) Stewart; Tom (Tabitha) Stewart, & Jean Renea Stewart.  She leaves 20 Grandchildren (including one, Jermaine Gentry, who is currently serving in the Navy in Japan); 32 Great-grandchildren and 5 Great-Great Grandchildren.  She will also be greatly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Saturday March 12, 2022  at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church at 1212 N. Dunleith Ave., Winston-Salem, NC 27105 with Rev. Ronald Speas officiating.Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:30pm-2:00pm at the church. Her remains may be viewed Friday March 11, 2022 from 12pm-6pm at Hooper Funeral Home.
