On Thursday June 22, 2023, Anthony Dewayne Bell, 65, went peacefully to be with his heavenly Father.
Wayne was born on October 5, 1957, to the late Sarah Elizabeth Bell and Alphonso Mock from Winston-Salem, NC.
Wayne attended Parkland High School (class of 1976) after which he began his career as a carpenter. Wayne was a man of many talents. He could renovate a house from the front door to the back, from the floor to the ceiling. Later in life he began working for the city Winston-Salem. Wayne was a man who was always outspoken, loved to have a good time listening to loud music, wearing white (no matter what time of the year), and dancing.
For the past 13 years, Wayne had a great love for his one and only (Boodie), Marjorie Evans, with whom he spent his last days.
Wayne is survived by one uncle, Phil Caldwell from Salisbury, NC; two sisters Joann (Grady) Stewart from Winston-Salem and Debbie (George) Long from Hollis, NY. One brother Maurice (Theresa) Bell from Richmond, Va. Four nieces, one nephew, six great nieces, seven great nephews, four great-great nieces, one great-great nephew, two close friend Warren Richardson and Ernest Brinkley and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Service of memory will be held at 12:00 pm Saturday July 1, 2023 in the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 11:30 am-12:00 pm at the funeral home.
