Antwain Sherriff Jenkins passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on January 15, 1974, He was the youngest of six children. Antwain spent much of his life in North Carolina while also living in Texas, a place that held a special place in his heart.
He was a faithful member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He attended R.J. Reynolds High School in Winston-Salem and later worked in the hospitality and cleaning industries, including employment in San Antonio, Texas, and Charlotte, North Carolina.
Antwain was known for living life on his own terms. He loved music, dancing, drawing, traveling, and spending time with those he cared about. He shared many years with his partner, David Dozier, and cherished the experiences and memories they created together.
One of Antwain's greatest joys was his beloved dogs, Cece and Buttercup ("B"). His bond with them was undeniable, especially with B, his faithful emotional support companion. They brought him comfort, companionship, and unconditional love throughout his life's journey.
Antwain faced cancer with determination and strength for nearly two years. Even through difficult days, he continued to fight with courage and resilience.
He was preceded in death by his father, James A. Jenkins Sr, and the oldest brother, Michael Robbins.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his devoted mother, Gracie M. Jenkins; three brothers, James Jenkins Jr., Dederick Jenkins, and Raphael (Keona) Jenkins; one sister, Tonia (Gregory) Douglas; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends whose lives were touched by his presence, humor, and spirit.
Although our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in knowing that Antwain is now at peace. His memory will live on through the stories we share, the music he loved, and the countless lives he touched along the way.
Forever loved. Forever remembered.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, in the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
In accordance with Antwain's wishes, he will be cremated.
Immediately following the Memorial Service, family and friends will gather at 1520 Locust Avenue (directly behind the funeral home) for fellowship, support, and remembrance.
