Ms. Avis Florence Brown Williams was born October 26, 1947 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to Ernest Brown and Grace Walker Brown Springs.

She was a graduate of the WSFC public schools and attended Winston-Salem State University receiving the title of Miss Twin City. Ms. Williams was previously employed by American Airlines, was an instructor at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and at Salem College here in the city.

Ms. Williams was a hard working, God fearing, dedicated mother to her children as well as to the children in the community.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Basil Brown, Ernest Brown and Viotis Springs, Jr.

Ms. Williams departed this life Sunday, August 14, 2022 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital.

She is survived by three children, Kentavious J. Williams, ShaRonda E. Williams, and Ronald D. Williams Jr.; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth Springs and Jerry Springs; ten nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends including devoted cousins, Perry and Avis Walker.

A service celebrating her life will be held 1230pm Thursday, August 25th in Hooper Funeral Home chapel.
