Barbara Rosena Benson known as "Zennie'' by all who loved her passed away on Sunday November 6,2022 after a brief illness at Trinity Glen in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Barbara was born March 9,1955 here in the city of Winston-Salem. She completed her levels of education adjoined with empowerment classes for adults with disabilities at The Enrichment Center of Winston-Salem. Her developmental skills were further enhanced with the support of her mother leading instructional classes in arts and crafts.

" Zennie'' was a past church member of John Wesley A.M.E Zion Church and now a dedicated church member of Trinity Chapel Church for  the last 13 years. By the holy spirit and the christian love that surrounded her she was able to lift up anyone she greeted during and after church service and even in her everyday life with shaking your hand and letting you know "I'm praying for you"!

During her adult life and even during her health challenges, "Zennie " kept her independent spirit as the oldest of her brothers and sisters and made sure everybody around her knew it and felt it.

In her passing she leaves to mourn her mother Mrs. Margretta Key, her siblings Mrs. Martha Gaskins( James), Mr. Earl Key(Virginia), Mr. Cedric Key(Fonda), Miss. Sherry Brown, Mrs.Stephanie Richardson (William) and Mr. Christopher Key, Sr (Sonja), a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

The Family would like to express a special thanks to the Staff of Trinity Glen and Trellis Supportive Care for the thoughtful and caring treatment of their loved one .

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Saturday November 12, 2022 at Trinity Chapel Church. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm-1:00pm at the church Saturday. Her remains may be viewed Friday November 11, 2022 from 12pm-6pm at the funeral home.
