Barbara Powell-Butler, 71, went home on September 1, 2022. She was a resident of Summerstone Health & Rehabilitation Center in Kernersville, N.C. Barbara was born on April 6, 1951, in Winston-Salem, N.C. She was a graduate of R.J. Reynolds High School in Winston-Salem in 1969.

Barbara was a dedicated employee of the Winston-Salem Transit Authority for many years.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Minnie Mauney Powell and her father, James Chester Powell.

Barbara is survived by her two sons, Larry William Butler II, Stephen Butler, her grandchildren, and by her brother, James Thomas Powell, Sr. and
his wife Lois Powell. Additionally, Barbara is survived by her Aunt Laura Mauney Murphy and her husband Jerome Murphy along with a host of other extended family and friends who will all miss her dearly.

A service of memory will be held 2:00 pm Saturday November 12, 2022 in the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home.
