Ms. Barbara Ellen Bennett Leak daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth Bennett, was born November 28, 1942 in Winston Salem NC. She passed away Wednesday April 28, 2021 at her residence peacefully surrounded by her loving family following a period of illness.

Barbara was born in Winston Salem, NC. Barbara and her family moved to Harrisburg Pennsylvania at a young age. Where she graduated  from The William H. Penn High School of Harrisburg Pennsylvania.

Ms. Barbara had a special place in her heart for children, that led her to many years assisting and helping the Freedom Baptist Church daycare center.

Barbara loves singing, listening to oldies but goodies music. Traveling to visit family and friends, sharing the joy and love that she brought upon others. A smile that brought you joy and laughter filled with love and a heart filled with Gold to give you her last.  She loved spending time with her plants. She also loves to do crossword puzzles faster than anyone we know to complete a book in a week.

There's no other blessing than the Root. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandmother Gertrude Barkley.

A life so beautiful that she leaves us cherishable memories in the lives of her children, Joy (Renrick) Switzer and Carnell (Toia) Leak, Three grandchildren Rashonda Benjamin, James Raley, Stephanie Raley of Winston-Salem, Eight Great Grands and One Great Great Grandson, Former Husband Carnell (Pauline) Leak. Sister-in-law and Brother-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins and other relatives and friends.

A public viewing will be held from 12pm-6pm Wednesday May 5, 2021 at Hooper Funeral Home. Funeral services will be private. Interment Evergreen Cemetery.
