Obituary

Ben Roseboro was born on March 20th, 1932 in Winston Salem NC to the late Benjamin and Grace Roseboro. He was the third    of six children: Walter Roseboro, Eddie Lee Roseboro, Anne Crowder, Alexander Jackson, and Charles Roseboro; all of whom preceded him in death.

Ben received his early education in the public schools of Winston Salem. He attended Johnson C. Smith University until duty called him in to serve in the United States Army. He served from 1953-1956 and was stationed in Germany.

On November 29, 1958, Ben married his childhood sweetheart, Edith Scott. He had admired her from a distance never dreaming that one day she would be his wife. They had three beautiful children together. Carmesia, Carol Faye "Face", and Bratis Roseboro..

After Ben and Edith were married, Ben continued his education at Forsythe Technical College. He graduated from Forsyth Technical College with a certification as a machinist. Ben worked several different jobs during his lifetime. He worked as a salesman for the Sampson drug company. He worked as a milkman for Sealtest. He was employed for 18 years by the Bahnson Company. He worked security for RJ Reynolds until retirement.

Ben was known by the smile that was always seen on his face. There was no job too large or too small for him. You could call on him anytime of the day or night and he would be there. His generous heart, his patience, and his gentle spirit will always be remembered. He opened his doors to help care for his mother and father-in-law until they passed. He also opened his doors to care for his brother-in-law Ed until he passed. He lovingly and faithfully cared for his wife after she lost her vision. He was her biggest supporter. His love and commitment to her was unwavering. He was her primary caregiver until they decided to move to New Hampshire to live with their daughter Carmesia Bacote. On February 20, 2017 his wife Edith, preceded him in death.

Ben was a faithful member of Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church for 17 years. Ben was responsible for putting up the cross prior to Easter Sunday. He made the cross himself and he and his wife would decorate it with purple and white cloths signifying Christ's death and resurrection. He also carved a small wooden cross that was placed on display at Reynolds Temple CME church. After his move to NH, Ben still attended church faithfully. His faith was a large part of his life.

Ben is survived by his three children, Carmesia (Willie) Bacote, Carol Faye"Face"(Michael) Williams, Bratis (Donyell) Roseboro; seven  grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; one niece, Sandra Jackson; a host of  other relatives and friends.

His smile, his love, his presence, were a wonderful gift, and all will be greatly missed.
