Calvin Kenneth Cheek died unexpectantly Thursday, October 7, 2021. On March 15, 1949, he was born to Calvin Gordon Cheek and Bernice Hickman Cheek, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by sisters-in-law Janice Cheek, Linda Medley, and in-laws John and Rosa Dunlap. He graduated from Paisley High School in 1968.His greatest achievement was his dedication and baptism as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1964. He served as an Elder in the East English Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses for over 25 years. For the past four years, he has been a member of the West Kernersville Congregation. Calvin was employed with Wesley Business Forms for 17 years. He started his own janitorial company alongside his wife. Calvin helped grow the company from small janitorial jobs in Winston-Salem to providing services to large companies and manufacturing plants throughout North and South Carolina. Later he spent ten years driving a tractor-trailer all over the United States. Calvin retired from the Winston-Salem Forsyth County school system. "Ken," was married to Cynthia Dunlap Cheek for 52 years, who survives him. He is also survived by Chadwick Cheek (Janel), and Sheridan Maurer of Kernersville, Kevin Cheek of Atlanta, and Bryan Cheek of Durham; four grandchildren, Kendall and Zachary Cheek, Veronica, and Isabelle Maurer of Kernersville; brother Vaughn Cheek (Jamie) of Clemmons, and a brother-in-law, William Medley of Greensboro, NC; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of close friends. A private memorial service will be held 3pm Saturday, October 16, 2021.
