Mr. Calvin Alonzo Smart was the youngest of 12 children born to the late Shirley and Nero Smart Sr. in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on March 14, 1953. He entered eternal rest peacefully on December 21, 2024 at Jacob's Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Madison, NC.

He attended the Winston Salem Forsyth County Schools and was a graduate of R.J. Reynolds High School. Calvin was a proud alumnus of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University where he received an undergraduate degree in Business Administration. He later earned a Masters Degree in Business Administration from North Carolina Central University.

Mr. Smart was employed with the Sara Lee Corporation in Sales Administration. He was also employed with the North Carolina Small Business Technology Development Center. After which he worked as a substitute teacher in the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System.

Calvin enjoyed traveling and listening to music. Fraternally, he was a proud member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. and enjoyed making shields for the fraternity members.

Spiritually, he attended Phillips Chapel Missionary Baptist Church until his health declined.

Mr. Smart leaves cherished memories to his daughters, Monique Smart and Brittany Smart; a sister, Delois Smart Eikner; a brother, Donald (Dianne) Smart; a devoted niece, Jeanne Smart Blackburn; sister-in-law Linda Marshall; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held 11:30am Saturday January 25, 2025 in the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home with the Omega Service preceding at 11:00 am. Inurnment will follow the memorial service in the Evergreen Cemetery.
