Carolyn A. Allen

Carolyn Alexia Allen was born March 17, 1950 (a twin) to the late Hoyt M. Allen, Sr. and Vera S. Allen in Winston-Salem, NC. She passed peacefully at her home on Friday, August 7, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her older brother, Hoyt M. Allen, Jr.

Carolyn attended St. Benedict The Moor Catholic School and was a graduate of Carver High School class of 1968, and continued her education at Winston-Salem State University for two years. Additionally, she obtained a legal paralegal certification through the Office of Continuing Education also at Winston-Salem State University in October 1994.

She was employed by Time Warner Cable (Spectrum) as a Senior Customer Service Representative for more than thirty years. Her health resulted in her early retirement in 2010. Prior to joining Time Warner, she was a salesperson for Reznicks Record Store.

Carolyn enjoyed her Westerns and Perry Mason. She loved sports, especially, the RAMS of WSSU and her beloved Washington Commanders. She also looked forward to March Madness Basketball.

She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church until her health declined.

Carolyn us survived by her son, Christopher A. Allen of Winston-Salem, NC; two brothers, Carl A. Allen (her twin) of Washington, DC and Charles E. (JoAnn) Allen of Winston-Salem, NC; faithful and devoted friends, George and Brenda Redd, Val Martin and Tammie Kirkland; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

A service celebrating her life will take place at 1:30 PM on Monday, August 17, 2026, at First Baptist Church, located at 700 Highland Avenue in Winston-Salem, NC. Friends and family are invited to gather from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at the church. Carolyn will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery afterward.

Her memory will be cherished and her influence felt long beyond her passing. For those who wish to pay their respects, viewings will be available from 12 PM to 5 PM on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at the funeral home.
