Ms. Carolyn Denise McCoy was born on January 2, 1957 to Mr. Robert and Ruby McCoy in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Carolyn was a 1975 graduate of East Forsyth High School and was affectionately known as (Speedy) to her family and friends.  She would also let you know to call her Ms. Hawkins as she preferred.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Robert and Ruby McCoy; a sister, Linda McCoy; brothers, Robert T McCoy, Jermaine McCoy; and her best friend, Lafaye Duncan. She departed this life Wednesday February 2, 2022.

Carolyn (Speedy) is survived by her son, Mr. Rodney Teon McCoy and her companion, Mr. Rick Hawkins, both of the home; sister, Patricia McCoy of the city; brother, Demond (Kim) McCoy of Graceland, GA; two grandchildren that she cherished and loved so much, who were her twins, Bella and Bentlei McCoy; stepson, DeWayne Hawkins, Sr.; two step-grandchildren, DeWayne Jr. and DeAsia Hawkins; niece, Tamika McCoy; nephews, Jerry McCoy, Daron McCoy, Robin Jackson, all of the city, Teron Hannah of Patterson, NJ; stepmother, Mrs. Joan McCoy of Sharon, SC.  Additional survivors are her god-sisters, Debra Moore, Patsy Bines and Sharon Mashack; god-daughter, Petina Dubose; god-brother, Donald Hayes, best friends, Lori Harris, Ann Shepard. Elizabeth Hauser, Deborah Turner and Jackie Williams, along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Friday February 11, 2022 at Field of God Outreach Church Ministries, 3002 Bon Air Ave. WS, NC. The family will receive friends from 12pm-1pm at the church. Her remains may be viewed Thursday February 10, 2022 from 12pm-6pm at the funeral home.
