Ms. Carolyn Ferguson Mills, daughter of the late Paul Roddy and Sammie Lee Ferguson was born May 26, 1944 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She departed this life Wednesday October 20, 2021 at Forsyth Medical Center following a brief illness.

Carolyn was a 1963 graduate of Atkins High School and later attended North Carolina Central University. She was a retiree of the Winston-Salem Forsyth County public schools. Spiritually, she was a Gold Star member of First Baptist Church.

Carolyn enjoyed traveling and her monthly fellowship with the WSSU Retiree Lunch bunch until the pandemic hit. She was loved by all and will be missed by many especially her grandcat, "Skittles". In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Gordon Mills and sister, Pauline Ferguson.

Those left to cherish memories are her devoted son, Kennon Mills of Atlanta, GA; a devoted niece, Jessica Martin; devoted nephews, Jeremy Martin and Jesse Martin, Jr. (Tori); great nephew, Mason Martin; godson, Robert Lee Jenkins of Atlanta, GA;  god daughters, LaKenya Johnson of Atlanta, GA and Katrinka E. Foster of Long Beach, CA;  brothers-in-law, Joe Mills and devoted brother-in-law, Jesse Martin, Sr. ; special sister-in-law, Diane Cooley Mills; devoted cousin Edna Glenn; a host of other dedicated family and friends, Alma Duncan,  and Catherine (James) Kennedy; son-in-law, Joseph Lee Hilderbrand of Phoenix, AZ;  devoted neighbor, Leon Massey other relatives and friends.

Special thanks to Dr. Alicia Brooks, Dr. Alexander Hadley, Dr. Katherine Rolih, Dr, Shannon St. Clair, Dr. Clark and the ICCU at Forsyth Medical Center.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Wednesday October 27, 2021 in the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm-2:00pm at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to www.hooperfuneralhome.net .
