Cetta Baldwin Thompson was born October 31,1923 to the late Robert Baldwin Sr. and Pearl Capel in Richmond County, North Carolina. She was called home to rest on October 26, 2020 after a long illness. Cetta was employed in her younger years with Glenwood Nursing Home in Rockingham, North Carolina. She later met James A. Thompson in 1960 and relocated to Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Cetta worked with Domestic Employment until her health failed. She was a member of Chapel Grove Church and then moved her membership to United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina under the leadership of Dr. J.D. Ballard. She loved church and was part of the Gospel Choir, Senior Missionary Group and Active Adult Group. She also attended school at Ellerbe Colored High School.
Cetta was preceded in death by her father (Robert Baldwin Sr) and her mother (Pearl Capel). Her husband (James A. Thompson) also passed in 2013. She was also preceded in death by all of her siblings. Her sisters Lillian Everette (Norman, NC), Hettie Payne (Lexington, NC), Florence Baldwin (Raleigh, NC), Ella Moore (Candor, NC), Arletha Hampton (Lexington, NC) and Catherine Baldwin (Winston-Salem, NC). Also two brothers Robert Baldwin Jr. (Norman, NC) and on brother who passed at birth. Cetta also had one daughter who preceded her in death(Margaret Baldwin Bostic) and two son in-laws (Leroy Bostic) and (Jessie MeLendon). Cetta also was preceded by her grandson (Marion Bostic) and a great-granddaughter (Alicia Marelle Bostic).
Cetta leaves to cherish two daughters Mattie McLendon (Ellerbe, NC) and Sherri Thompson (Winston-Salem, NC). Cetta has 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves to cherish several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A service of Memory was held Saturday October 31, 2020 in the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home.
