Charlene L. Rickard, 52, was born on January 31, 1968 in Winston Salem, NC to the late Charles L. Rickard Sr. and Vicki M. Rickard. She departed life on Tuesday, March 31, 2020. She was a former member of St. Paul Apostolic Church.

Charlene was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Her passion in life was giving back to the community; where she strived to keep her 4-H organization "Brothers and Sisters Arising" going by encouraging and inspiring children in the black communities. Charlene taught us so much about life and had such a great impact on us all. She will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Charlene was preceded in death by her son Leonard D. Rickard.

Charlene is survived by her grandchildren, Angel Rickard, Jazariah Gist, Sean Rickard, Vicki E. Rickard, Leonard Rickard Jr.; her two sisters, Charlotte Rickard and Meka Smith; her three brothers Charles Rickard Jr., Christopher Smith, Ivory Smith; a host of dedicated nieces and nephews, family members, and friends.

A public viewing will be held from 12 pm-5 pm Friday April 10, 2020 at Hooper Funeral Home. Due to COVID-19 funeral services will be private.
