Mr. Charlie Marshall Sheppard Sr. was born on September 11th, 1929 in Belews Creek, NC to the late Mr. Charlie and Mrs. Gertrude Harriston Ring Sheppard. He was blessed to recently celebrate his 94th birthday and on December 14th, 2023 he received his gift of eternal life, he loved the Lord.

In his youth, he attended Atkins High School and later married his childhood sweetheart, Mrs. Susannah Nelson Sheppard in 1951 and they were married 71 years before she departed this life in the summer of 2022. In this union, they had eight beautiful children; he was a devoted husband and father who loved and cared for his family dearly.

He was a Montford Point US Marine, honorably discharged in 1950, and was recently honored with a United States Congress, Congressional Gold Medal for his service. Also, August 26th is Mr. Charlie M. Sheppard Day in Forsyth County, NC. He was a hard dedicated worker and provider for his family and retired from Merita Bakery where he worked for 40 years.

He was preceded in death by his lovely wife Mrs. Susannah Nelson Sheppard; one son, Derwin Sheppard; two daughters, Audrey Cockerham and Juanita Coleman; six brothers and four sisters.

He leaves to cherish fond memories of his children Charlie (Pat) Sheppard Jr., Pastor Wanda Walker, Lillian (Pastor Gary) Walker, Timothy Sheppard of the home, and Susan Sheppard; a devoted grandson Waddell Sheppard; 19 grandchildren; a host of great and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews including a special nephew Andrew (Lisa) Wardlow, cousins, other relatives and friends.

His remains will lie in repose 1pm to 6pm Monday, December 18th at Hooper Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 am Tuesday, December 19th, also at Hooper Funeral Home with family visitation preceding at 10:30am.
