Obituary

Mr. Clyde Clinton Douglas was born August 28, 1933, in Statesville, North Carolina to the late Willie Lee and Bessie Campbell Douglas. He was the youngest of 12 children, 8 girls and three brothers.

Mr. Douglas moved to Winston-Salem, NC and was a 1961 graduate from Carver High School.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Mr. Douglas lived in Baltimore Maryland for many years. While there he became a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Coley, pastor. There he sang on the church choir and male chorus and was the handy man around the church. He also sang with various quartet groups, namely the Gospel Soul Lifters, and High Spirits traveling around singing gospel songs.  Later he moved to High Point and joined the St. Stephens AME Zion Church under the leadership of Rev.  Reginald Maurice Keitt. While there he sang on the church choir and attended bible study which he loved.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by ten siblings. Mr. Douglas departed this life Monday July 20, 2020 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted sister, Martha Mayfield of High Point, NC; a host of nieces, nephews including a devoted niece, Peggy McCullough; other relatives and friends including a close friend, Willie Jennings of Baltimore, MD.

There will be no public viewing. Private graveside services will be held at the Salisbury National Cemetery.
