Dairle Patterson, Sr. was born April 8, 1941 in Zebulon, NC to the late Mantel Patterson and the late Eva Easton Steele. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 36 years, Annie Dogan Patterson.
He was a 1960 graduate of Hillside High School in Durham, NC where he was a Safety Patrol officer, member of the Body Builders Club, Vocational Club and Track Team.
After high school he worked many years at K&W Cafeteria and later changed occupations to become a certified electrician. As an electrician he traveled across the United States serving as a foreman for several contract jobs.
Dairle, Sr. joined New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in 1969 and served on the Usher Board and as a Trustee. He remained a faithful member until his health began to decline.
He was a long-time member of the Mason Lodge and served in the capacity of the 32 nd and Last Degree until he could no longer serve.
Dairle, Sr. enjoyed fishing and traveling in his spare time. He had an enormous sense of humor and his love for people was unconditional.
Dairle, Sr. returned to college after many years and on March 1, 2010 he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theology from The International Seminary of Plymouth, Florida.
On the morning of Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Wake Medical Hospital, Raleigh, NC after an extended illness, Dairle, Sr. answered God's call to go home to be with the Lord.
Dairle Sr., leaves to cherish three children: Dairle Patterson Jr and (Gerlanna), of Raleigh, NC., Rev. Dr. Donna Patterson Hawkins of Holly Springs, NC, and Sharon Denise Baynes of Louisburg, NC; three grandchildren: Alexandria D. Baynes of Dallas, TX, Joshua T. Hawkins of Kinston, NC, and Regina J. Baynes of Raleigh, NC; two Nieces: Evelyn Elliott and Ramelle Shuler; three Great Nieces: Carmen, Marcella, and Phyllis Elliott; one Great-Nephew, Donte' Dykes; One Great-Great Niece: Amorie Wade-Elliott; two Devoted Friends: Johnny and Susan Wilson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends 11:30am Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at New Jerusalem Baptist Church with the funeral service following at 12pm. Interment: Piedmont Memorial Gardens.
