Mrs. Deborah Whiting- McCray was born June 7, 1953 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to the late Vincent and Sara Chase Whiting. She entered into eternal rest on Thursday March 27, 2025 at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center.

She graduated high school in Los Angeles, CA.  She was married to Mr. Howard Eugene McCray for 42 years before his demise in 2024.  Mrs. Whiting –McCray was a very giving person who loved her family, especially her grandkids.  She was employed by the United States Postal Service for seventeen years until she became disabled.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and  siblings.

She leaves cherished memories to her children; Swakenya Whiting (Ricardo) of Tacoma, WA, Tobenique (T.J.) Ibarra of Lancaster, CA, LaKenya McCray of the home, Abraham "Christian" McCray of Charlotte, NC, and Howard McCray Jr. of the home; ten grandchildren, Alijah McGinnis-Whiting, Kiera McGinnis-Whiting, TJ Ibarra Jr., King Ibarra, Cali Ibarra, LaKayla and Deonte Jordan, E'mani' Sisco, Aniyah McCray and Myli McCray; three brothers, Harold (Hassie) Chase of Marysville, WA, Walter D. (Jacqueline) Marshall of Harrisburg, PA and Vincent (Lisa) Whiting of Los Angeles, CA; three sisters, Gloria Chase of Eugene, OR, Gladys Osborne of Harrisburg, PA and Angie Craig of Los Angeles, CA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

A service of loving memory will be held 12:30 pm Friday April 11, 2025 at New Light Missionary Baptist Church, 1535 East 15th Street Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
