Dedrik Tyronne Penn (AKA) "Boot" was 58 born April 28, 1963. He accepted his wings on his journey home to God on January 30, 2022 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC. He received his education from the Winston Salem Forsyth County School System, and was a faithful employee while working for Oyster Bay Restaurant for several year before becoming disable. Boot loved his months-long vacations with his family in VA, and Badin, NC. He lived with his devoted, loving, and caring sister Julie Penn-Oakes of Winston-Salem, NC until he was called home.

Dedrik Tyronne Penn was preceded in death by his parents James W. Penn Sr. and Thelma B. Penn. 3 brothers, James W. Penn Jr., Joseph F. Brown, and Charles Brown ("Toot") 2 sisters Claudette Lindsey and Juanita Penn. Brother-in-law Jermaine Oakes.

Dedrik leaves to cherish his memory his sister Julie Penn Oakes, 4 brothers, Barry Penn of Smithfield VA, Gregg Penn (Lisa) and Frederick Penn (Brenda) all of Winston-Salem, NC, and Walter Penn (Tonda) of Suffolk, VA. Sister-in-law Ruth Penn of Jacksonville, FL, Aunt Josephine Howell of Winston-Salem, NC, goddaughter Jasmine York of Winston-Salem, NC. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, family, and close friends.

Everyone that knew Boot, knew he loved to laugh, have a good time, smile, cook, and loved his family and friends. He lived his life to the fullest, and will be dearly missed by all.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 pm Saturday February 5, 2022 in the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home. Interment will be held 11:00 AM Monday February 7, 2022 at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Walkertown, NC
