Donald Matthew Perry, affectionately referred to as "Aight," "Donnie", and "Don", was born on July 3, 1953, to parents Mr. George Perry and Mrs. Jean Perry. On Monday March 3, 2025, Donald succumbed to death at Baptist Hospital.
Donald was a student at the Deaf and Blind School in Raleigh, which was run by Governor Morehead. The school closed in 1970 due to integration, after which he transferred to the Morganton School for the Deaf. His passion for athletics earned him a place in the school's Hall of Fame. He graduated in 1973.
On December 31, 1977, Donald and Sandra R. Lowrance were united in marriage. They raised three children, and Donald worked at Hash Auto Body Shop for over 35 years, always ready to help family and friends with repairs.
He found joy in cheering for the WSSU Rams, watching races at Bowman Gray Stadium, and savoring peanuts and popcorn while people watching. His generosity and passion for life will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Jean Perry. His brothers George Allen Fisher Perry, Chelson Earl Perry, and sister Barbara Peele. Six aunts Mary Wrisby, Brenda Whitfield, Carol Thomason, and Hazel Howard of Williamston NC. Four uncles Walter Fisher of Irvington, NJ Lee Ray Perry and Tyrone Perry of Williamston, NC and Jasper Perry of Goldsboro, NC.
He leaves to mourn his memories, his wife, Sandra Perry; three children Jeffrey Perry of Garner, NC, Terrance Perry, and Jeanna (Daryl) Easterwood of Winston-Salem, NC. Four granddaughters, Abigail Easterwood and Brooklyn Williams of Winston-Salem, NC, Khaylin Perry of Garner, NC and Jakayla Johnakin of Raleigh, NC. Six grandsons Elijah and Isaiah Easterwood of Winston-Salem, NC, Jeffrey Perry Jr. and Jayden Perry of Raleigh, NC, Terrance Perry Jr. of Garner, NC and Xavier Perry of Greensboro, NC. Two sisters Carolyn Perry of Atlantic City, NJ and Stella Perry of Williamston, NC. Three brothers Len (Donna) Perry of Wareham, MA, Dean (Brenda) Perry of Charlotte, NC and Tyrone (Danielle) Perry of Williamston, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A public viewing will be held Friday March 14, 2025, from 12:00pm-5:00pm at Hooper Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday March 15, 2025, 11:30am in the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am-11:30am at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Gardens of Memory, Walkertown, NC.
