Doris Jean Davis was born July 15, 1945 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to Curtis William Pendleton and Mildred Barton Pendleton.  On June 3, 2025, Doris transitioned from life to her heavenly home while in Trellis Hospice Care.

Doris grew up in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and was a graduate of Atkins High School.  She also was a graduate of Winston-Salem State University where she received her degree in Elementary Education.  She taught in Danville, VA for two years before moving to Detroit, Michigan, where she taught for 30 years and received her Master's degree.

She accepted Christ as her Saviour at the age of twelve years while attending Spencer Memorial Christian Church, now Christ Kingdom Building Worship Center.  After returning home, she became a member of Mount Zion Saturday Evening Worship Services.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents Mildred and Curtis Pendleton; her brother, Willie Francis Barton and daughter, Tarsha Davis.

She leaves cherished memories to her son, Ryan R. Davis and his father Robert Davis; sister, Brenda Patterson; grandson, Javon Davis; devoted niece, Lynette (Se'en) Cox; nephew, Marshall Patterson IV; grand niece, Destiny Jones; many other cousins and good friends including Nichele Bracyl, Edna Spotser and Faye Hudson.

Funeral services will  be held at 11:30 am Friday June 27, 2025 in the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home. The  family will receive friends from 11:00am-11:30am at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Crestview Memorial Park. Her remains may be viewed Thursday June 26, 2025 from 12pm-5pm at the funeral home.
