Dorothy Maureen
Robinson
Feb 22, 1937 — Apr 1, 2025
Dorothy M. Robinson, known to family and friends as Maureen, transitioned from this earthly life Tuesday April 1, 2025 while at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Charles Chapel and Arerather Robinson Morrison (Clarence). Born on February 22, 1937, she was thankful and blessed to reach 88 years old.
Maureen was educated in the Winston-Salem School System at Kimberly Park Elementary, and Atkins High School. Maureen worked for Hanes Hosiery for a number of years. Her final years of employment were spent as an attendant in several different parking decks in the downtown area. She was extremely proud to be an employee of the City of Winston-Salem.
Her retirement gave her time to do what she loved most in the world, cook for her family and shop all over the city. There was not a recipe she was not willing to try, nor an outfit she didn't want to buy! While she was small in stature, she stood tall as a fiercely devoted mother. Maureen's tenacity made her determined to provide her family with the best of everything. She was a member of St. John CME Church, 350 NW Crawford Place in Winston-Salem, attending regularly until her health declined.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son: Xavius; her granddaughter, Chauna; her brother: Curtis Clemmons; her sisters: Elna Beckham, Reginald Stimpson, and Delois Jackson; her stepfather: Clarence Morrison; and her very dear childhood friend: Barbara J. Carson.
Left to treasure their memories of her are three daughters: Chonita, Deidre and Kara; a son: Jerone; her sister: Barbara Benjamin; sister-in-law: Jewel Clemmons; a friend of many decades: Ms. Thaddeus Griffin; a host of nieces, nephews and countless friends.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 10 from 12:00 -5:00 pm at Hooper Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 11 beginning at 12 noon at St. John CME Church, 350 NW Crawford Place, Winston-Salem, NC 27105. The family visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 12 PM. on Friday at the church. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens.
Maureen will be missed deeply by her family. But we take comfort in knowing she is with her sweet Chauna and Xav once again.
