Ms. Dorothy Mae Ross was born July 15, 1943 in Badin, North Carolina to the late Fred and Lilly Bell Ross. She was a resident of Winston-Salem NC most of her life where she attended the WS/FC public schools.

A pillar of the Kimberly Park community, Ms. Ross loved children and looked out for all those who were in need, making sure they were fed and taken care of.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, David, Ralph, Robert, and Fred Ross Jr.

Ms. Ross departed this life Wednesday March 29, 2023 at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center following a period of illness.

She is survived by her two children, Carl Ross of Baltimore, MD and Jory Solomon of Winston-Salem, NC; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one devoted sister, Fayerita Cain of Winston-Salem NC; special friends, Cookie Weaks and Gail; a goddaughter, Sotonya Nelums; other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held 3:00 pm Wednesday April 5, 2023 in the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home.
