Ms. Dorothy Lee Wingate "Ms. Dot," 70, of Winston-Salem went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 9, 2022 at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center.

Ms. Dot worked 30 plus years for the City of Winston-Salem in Parks and Recreation. She was an active member of New Life Church of Winston-Salem until her health declined.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother; and three sisters.
Left to cherish her memory are a niece, Mrs. Gennette Thompson (Travis) Evans of Winston-Salem; three nephews, James Bernard McKeever III of Winston-Salem; Charles (Sharon) Wingate of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Steven Ray Thompson Jr. of Kansas City, Missouri; a great nephew, Christopher Wingate; cousins, other relatives; many dear friends and her "kids from the center."

A funeral service celebrating Ms. Dot's life will be held 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at the Hooper Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow In Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service hour from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
