Dwayne Curtis
Johnson
Jan 21, 1985 — Dec 11, 2020
Dwayne Curtis Johnson was born on January 21, 1985, recorded as the coldest day of the century (sliding on ice in the ambulance), to the late Mr. Larry T. Johnson and Mrs. Michelle C. Johnson in Winston-Salem, NC. The second week in this month, Dwayne informed me that he was doing better and would be going home for Christmas. Little did I realize what those words meant on Friday, December 11 th, when he went to his
eternal home.
Dwayne was known by his grandpa as "Tight Man", "Wayne" by his brothers and aunts, "Weezy" by some of his friends and teased as "The Rock". I called him "Dude" at times. Dwayne was a quiet, private and reserved son. He did not like his business discussed with anyone. If he and I had a disagreement, he would quickly end it by saying "I am through talking about it." and would not utter another word.
Dwayne enjoyed listening to music, especially reggae. He also enjoyed watching the ill Channel, dabbling in modeling and hanging out with his friends. I had no idea Dwayne could cook. His meatloaf was better than mine. How he managed to bum food on the grill is beyond me! Dwayne was meticulous about his appearance from head-to-toe. Majority of the time, his outfits included red, which was his favorite color. Every two
weeks, he had a standing appointment for a shape-up and trim in Greensboro.
Dwayne graduated with honors from Parkland High School, where he participated in civic clubs and sports. He attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University for two years to pursue a degree in Computer Graphic Design.
Loving memories of Dwayne will be cherished by his mother, sisters: Larisha Williams and Joan Johnson; brothers: Lavon and Darnell Johnson, Grandpa Carter, six uncles, three aunts and ten nephews and nieces. He is also cherished by great-uncles and aunts, a host of cousins and friends and the two loves that were a part of his life for nine years, Myrilin and Jaslyn.
Dwayne, you will be missed by many but never forgotten in our hearts. Love,
Your mother
