Edith was welcomed into this world May 11, 1935 by the late Agnes Speight-Mingo and James Jones in Winston-Salem, NC. She departed this life July 23, 2022.

Edith attended Atkins High School and was employed by Winston Salem Convalescent & Rehabilitation Center (CNA) until she had to retire from work to care for her sick mother.

Edith was united in marriage to the late Monroe Mitchell for twenty-six years. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, family member, and friend. She was a faithful member of Eastside Church of Christ where she was very active with the Ladies Bible Class. She was a very dedicated student and advocate.

Edith's life on earth is over however, dear memories will be cherished by her children: daughters, Karen (Jerome) Woodford and Norma (Errol) Gay; her sons, Reginald (Trellis) Mitchell, Ronald Mitchell, Monroe T. Mitchell, and Rayvon (Pamela) Mitchell; several Godchildren, twenty grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives, church family, and many friends.

The family will receive friends 12:30pm Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Eastside Church of Christ with the funeral service following at 1pm. Interment: Evergreen Cemetery.
