Mr. Edward Allan Barksdale, affectionately known as "Eddie", passed peacefully on Friday, May 27, 2022. He was born to the late Catherine Barksdale Smith and Edward Smith Sr. on August 14, 1948 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Edward was a longtime resident of Winston-Salem, NC and educated by the Winston Salem/Forsyth County School System.  He had a huge heart and a love for his children, family and anyone around him. He also loved to bake. Edward was employed by the City of Winston-Salem and Lentz Moving and Storage.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a  brother Howard Smith.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his daughters Robinetta Blackwell, Kizzy Lawary (Tony) of the city, and Byanka Greene-Bush of Dallas, TX; eleven grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; siblings: Juanita Crump, Tanner Smith, Ruth Smith, Pamela Fitzgerald (Troy), Wayne Smith (Kimberly) of the city, Antonio Smith (Shemeka) of Fate, TX; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Smith of the city; a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held 12 noon Saturday June 4, 2022 in the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 11am-12pm at the funeral home on Saturday. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens.  His remains may be viewed Friday June 3, 2022 from 12pm-6pm at the funeral home.
