Mr. Edward Nichols Thompson entered into eternal rest on September 7, 2023. He was born to the late John and Ruth Robinson Thompson on July 8, 1940 in Winston Salem, NC where he attended the WS/FC Public Schools.

At an early age he became a member of Gospel Tabernacle Holiness Church and later as a young man, became a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. After a stint in Chicago, IL, Ed served in many capacities at Bethlehem including participation in the Spiritual and Vocal Choirs, the Male Chorus, the Senior Usher Board, and the Sunday School until the decline of his health.

Ed's career path took him to employment endeavors with Zenith, S&C Electric, and the City of Winston Salem Recreation Department from which he retired. He enjoyed golf and football (he was a fan of the Chicago Bears and the Carolina Panthers). Ed also loved his family and his church family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings.

Left to cherish fond memories are his children, Tonya White, Rayshella (Phillip) Stewart, Edward (Felicia) Thompson, Jr., Roderick Thompson, Terrence "TBONE" (Ranesha) Thompson, and Vernon Thompson; brothers, Harold and Timothy Thompson; a host of grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends 10:30am Saturday, September 16th at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church with the funeral service following at 11am. Interment : Piedmont Memorial Gardens.
