Obituary

Mr. Edward Leon Williamson Jr. aka "  Ed   " was  born September 4th 1952 , in Winston-Salem, NC to the late Edward Sr. and Doris Stephens Williamson.

He moved to Chicago, IL at an early age and attended the public schools there.

Edward served his country in the United States Air Force from 1971 to 1975. After being honorably discharged, he had a long career with the United States Postal Service retiring after 37 ½  years of service. He later chose to further his education by obtaining Associate Degrees in Applied Sciences from Olive Harvey College and Kennedy King College.  Later graduating from Chicago State University in 1991 with a degree in Business Administration.

In his leisure time, he loved bowling and was a member of many bowling teams in the Chicago IL area. He loved helping those in need and donated to many charitable organizations as well.

After retirement, Ed returned home to Winston-Salem, NC to be with family.

Spiritually, he attended New Bethel Baptist Church, where he sang with the New Bethel Communion Singers.

Edward went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at his residence. In addition to his parents he was predeceased  by a sister, Deborah Ann Williamson.

Edward leaves to cherish loving memories two children, son, Erik Williamson and daughter, Erin Williamson; grandson, Darrion;  a devoted sister, Lisa Neal Myers; aunt, Thelma Russell; a devoted and special friend, Joanne Johnson,  and a host of  nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and dear friends.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday April 12, 2025 at New Bethel Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 10;30am-11:00am at the church. His remains may be viewed Friday April 11, 2025 from 12pm-5pm at the funeral home.
