Emeikio "Mikki"
Robertson
Feb 28, 1973 — Jun 1, 2025
Emeikio Sheimikki Robertson, a cherished resident of Clemmons, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at her home. Her departure came as she was preparing to attend the house of the Lord, a testament to her deep faith and devotion. Her life served as an inspiration to those around her, reflecting strength, grace, and an unwavering commitment to her spiritual journey.
Affectionately known as "Mikki," Emeikio's presence in the community was defined by her remarkable kindness, warmth, and ability to connect with people on their unique life journeys. She worked as a Qualified Professional at Covenant Case Management Services, where she oversaw the implementation and management of services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Her contributions were pivotal in ensuring top-notch service delivery, effective advocacy, and adherence to Medicaid's Home and Community-Based Services program in North Carolina. Mikki approached her work as a true ministry, bringing her whole self to serve others.
Mikki was a proud graduate of Shelby High School class of 1991. She continued her education at Cleveland Community College from 1991 to 1993 and earned her bachelor's degree from Winston-Salem State University (go Rams!) in 1995. A lifelong learner, Mikki pursued studies in Life Coaching and Spiritual Development under the esteemed guidance of Iyanla Vanzant at the Inner Vision Institute for Spiritual Development in Silver Spring, Maryland.
Faith played a central role in Mikki's life. She joined and was an active member at Restoration Christian Fellowship Church in Winston-Salem, NC, she led the Dance Ministry, actively participated as an Armor Bearer to the Pastor, Assistant to EMO (Evangelist, Ministry and Outreach), and dedicated herself wholeheartedly to advancing the church's ministry and outreach efforts.
Mikki's infectious laughter was a hallmark of her personality, drawing people to her magnetic presence. She had an innate ability to light up any room she entered, making gatherings more vibrant and memorable. A lesser-known fact about Mikki is her time as an accomplished athlete in the Women's National Football League, where she played for the Carolina Cougars from 2000 to 2003. During her tenure, her team clinched the Championship and proudly went to Super Bowl XXXV in Tampa, Florida—a testament to Mikki's indomitable spirit and remarkable determination.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Nathaniel and Wanda Robertson, along with her brother, Frank Ross. She leaves behind cherished memories with her loving son, Trevon A. Robertson, affectionately known as "Tre-Bear." Her surviving family includes her brother, Brandon Robertson of Shelby, NC; three sisters, Donna Robertson of the home, Carla Haynes (Maurice), and Arica Surratt of Shelby, NC; and her sister-in-law, Georgette Ross of Gaffney, SC. She was also blessed with a special niece and nephew, Sheretta Funderburk (Michael) and Nick Hogue (LaToya). Her godmother, Cynthia Schley, held a special place in her heart.
Mikki shared deep bonds with her dear friends, who were like sisters to her: Davida Clemonts (Rev. Alfred Clemonts), Velvet Briscoe (Durwin), and Lena Harris. Her circle of love was completed with her co-parenting companions, Bishop Roger and Tunnie Billingsley-Hayes.
A celebration of her life will be held 1:00 pm Friday June 6, 2025 at Restoration Christian Fellowship, 2236 Old Salisbury Road Winston-Salem, NC 27127. Her remains will lie in repose 11am Friday ONLY, in the church and the family will receive friends from 12 noon until the funeral hour. Interment will be held in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
