Ms. Equilla Mae Johnson was born April 2, 1927 to Fletter Tiller and James Johnson. She was raised by James and Ruth Johnson in Sulfolk, Virginia.  Ms. Johnson worked as a seamstress until her retirement. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Johnson, siblings, James Thomas, John Henry, George, Charles and Roosevelt .

Ms. Johnson departed this life Saturday October 5, 2019 at Carolina Pines of Greensboro.

She is survived by two sons, David Saunders, Louis Saunders; two daughters, Veronica and Deborah Johnson; her siblings, Lewis, Annie Ruth, Dolphus , Dorothy, and  JoAnn; ten grandchildren, Brenda, Kadedra, Robert, David Malcolm, Lumumba, Nigeria, Byrant, Shawn, Hafeezah and Justina; sixteen great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

A Service of Memory will be held 12 noon Wednesday October 16, 2019 in the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 11:30 am-12 noon at the funeral home.
