Mrs. Ernestine Rorie of Winston Salem NC, affectionately known as "Tine" peacefully passed away at home on Monday September 28, 2021.

She was born to Cozine Brown and Ernest Shuler. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of sixty years Mr. Nathaniel Rorie .

She leaves behind her daughter Cynthia Shuler; two sons, Nathaniel Rorie Jr. and Steve Rorie (Monica McKoy Jones a very dedicated family friend); three grandchildren, Shekela Shu l er, Quantanesha Brown, and La' Andera Rorie, anda host of great grandchildren and family.

Mrs . Rorie was a resident of Winston Salem NC and graduate of Atkins High School where she was a cheerleader. She served as a registered nurse in Baltimore MD and Kate Bitting Reynolds in Winston Salem NC later known as Reynolds Health Center . She was the first African American to hold a supervisory position at Reynolds Hea l th Center. She also worked at Parent Planning for 40 plus years and has been retired for the past 20 years .

As the matriarch of the family, she was very nourishing and self-sacrificing for her family, friends and community. Mrs. Rorie was a member of New Light Missionary Baptist Church where she served as president of the Nurses Auxiliary, Pastors Aid and always willing to assist with kitchen duties .

Funeral services will be conducted 12:30 pm Saturday October 2, 2021 at New Light Missionary Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 12pm-12:30pm Saturday at the church. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens.
