Obituary

Evangelist Sandra Lorraine McCorkle, aka "Gwen" was born March 27, 1946 in Winston-Salem North Carolina to the late Eddie Cobb and Carrie McCorkle.

A lifelong resident of Winston-Salem, she attended the Winston-Salem/ F orsyth County and remained deeply connected to her  community  throughout her life. Gwen faithfully served in her professional career as a dedicated employee  of Aramark Services,  working at the R.J. Reynolds Headquarters until her retirement. She was known for her strong work ethic, kindness and commitment to excellence.

Spiritually, Evangelist McCorkle was a devoted member of St. Peter's World Outreach Center, where she served faithfully and was ordained minister under the leadership the late Bishop R K Hash Sr. and wife Mildred T. Hash. Her faith was a guiding force in her life, and she touched many through her ministry, encouragement, and compassionate spirit. She will be remembered for her devotion to family, steadfast faith, warm heart, and positive impact she made on everyone who knew her. Her outreach service in the community allowed her to meet no strangers. She helped anyone she met and believed  in witnessing to others about Christ.

She was preceded in death by seven siblings and one son, Christopher McCorkle.

Evangelist McCorkle departed this life Saturday February 7, 2026 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

She leaves cherished memories to her five children, Gary McCorkle, Derrick(Valeria) McCorkle, Bryant(Lisa) McCorkle, Tara McCorkle Hauser and Aaron(Shontavia) McCorkle; six grandchildren, Brittany McCorkle, Tearia McCorkle, Sierras Hauser, JoJuan McCorkle, Brylee McCorkle and Bryson McCorkle; five great grandchildren; three sisters, Sheila(Mike) Saunders, Beverly Cobb and Eydie Harper of Knoxville, TN; two brothers, Reginald Cobb and Jeffrey Cobb; special caregivers Natasha Hardison and Consuelo Dubose,"Ms. Love"; along with a host of extended family, church family,  prayer warriors, and friends.

Her legacy of faith, love and service will continue to inspire all whose lives she touched.

A Celebration of her life will be held at 12:00 noon Tuesday February 17, 2026 at St. Peter's World Outreach Center. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am -12:00 noon at the church Tuesday. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Her remains may be viewed from 12pm-5pm Monday at the funeral home.
