George Leon
Mitchell
Sep 9, 1960 — Oct 10, 2021
George Leon Mitchell, long-time resident of Davie County, N.C. died unexpectedly on October 10, 2021 at the age of 61 peacefully in his sleep.
George is survived by his wife, Jacqueline (Brown); his children, George Christopher, Derrick Emmanuel and Sydney Taylor Mitchell; his brothers and sisters, Muriel Wilkins, Doris Baker, Lula Mitchell, Catherine Ferrell (Lester), Yolanda Redmon, Frank Mitchell, Nathaniel Mitchell, Carolyn (Ricky) Patterson, Thomas Mitchell and a host of nieces and nephews.
George was born to Reverend George and Mrs. Gladys Mitchell on September 9, 1960 in Winston Salem, N.C. He graduated from Greensboro College in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion and minor in Philosophy. He served in the United States Army from 1985 to 1989. He worked in several managerial positions at Sun Chemical, Adele Knits, and Jockey International. His last position was a truck driver with Crete Carrier.
George enjoyed many activities including golf, fishing and his love of football (Steeler's fan). More importantly, George loved the word of God and would dive deep into Scripture to understand its history and intent to whom it was addressed. We would have great intellectual discussions because he was a thinker and motivated to learn and understand more of the past in order to make sense of the present age. George enjoyed working with his wife teaching the 4–5-year old's and recently driving and volunteering at Agape Faith Dream Center.
George will be missed but we his family treasure all of the laughter and love we shared. He imparted many lessons to his children and demonstrated that a strong work ethic and diligence is the path to follow. We will cherish his memory until we meet again.
A family gathering will be held 5:30 pm Thursday October 14, 2021 at Agape Faith Church Clemmons, NC. The family will receive friends from 5:00pm-5:30pm Thursday at the church.
