Obituary

Harold Leon Shepard, affectionately known as Punkin and Shep, was born on June 3, 1952 and ascended to his heavenly home on July 7, 2023.

Harold was born and raised in Winston-Salem, NC on Derry Street in Kimberly Projects. He attended North Forsyth High School before joining the United States Army in his early twenties. Harold later also invested in higher education at Forsyth Tech pursuing auto mechanics and Guilford Tech for substance abuse counseling. Eventually settling into his career, he became well- known for being a dedicated and upstanding entrepreneurial auto-mechanic throughout the city of Winston for over four decades. Aside from his career, Harold was passionate about fishing, taking things apart and putting them back together, and most of all, pouring wisdom into everyone around him.

Harold is preceded in death by his mother Eleanor Shepard, father DeMarshall Shepard, sister Ella Boston, brother Marshall Shepard (Malik Sharif ), and stepdaughter LaDonna Pinkney.

To cherish his loving memory, Harold leaves behind his wife of 47 beautiful years, Lillie Shepard. Harold was a devoted family man who poured life, lessons, and love into the family he created. With that, he also leaves behind four daughters: Alicia Shepard (Winston-Salem, NC), Hali Shepard (Cleveland, OH), Lisa Hickman (Winston-Salem, NC), and Lakea Shepard (Houston, TX).
As the "baby boy" of the family, Harold's loyalty to his brothers and sisters ran deep. He's left behind four sisters and one brother: Edith (Robert) Hayes ~ Los Angeles, CA, Frenchie Simpson~ Raleigh, NC, Linda Shepard ~Winston-Salem, NC, Sylvia (Sam) Hickerson ~ Winston-Salem, and Bobby (Glenda) Shepard ~ Winston-Salem. In addition, Harold leaves behind six grandchildren and one great grandchild: Ajai Adams, Ajadin Adams, Jamael Hayes, Tonia Coleman, Navre Pinkney, Emanuel Hickman, and Tremaine Coleman. Harold is leaving behind a family that extends far and wide, including a host of nieces and nephews, and many life-long friends.

Funeral services will be held 1:30pm Saturday July 15, 2023 at New Light Missionary Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm-1:30 pm at the church Saturday. His remains may be viewed Friday July 14, 2023 from 12om-6pm at the funeral home.
