Mr. Haywood McIntyre Jr.  a native of Lumberton, North Carolina transitioned this life Wednesday, February 8, 2023.  He was the eldest son born to Haywood McIntyre Sr. and Pauline Brock McIntyre.

Haywood was educated in the Robeson County School System and worked for more than 30 years in the factory industry.  After retiring from Graphics Packaging, he relocated to Winston-Salem, NC where he enjoyed a laid-back life.

He found great pleasure in spending time with his dogs, cutting grass and pier fishing.  He did not often engage in idle talk but never shied away from a brag or debate about his beloved Pittsburg Steelers.  He made time to crack jokes that often made him laugh harder than his audience.  He was not only a master on the grill but also a great "kitchen cook."  While he loved sitting down to a good steakhouse dinner, he also relished in cooking for his family, who often requested his unforgettable turnip greens and roasted turkey wings.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two siblings: Carl McIntyre and Lisa G. McIntyre.

To remember him in love are his three children; Sophia, Tamarian "Tam" and Haywood "Jamont" McIntyre, seven grandchildren; Isaiah, Isaac, Tyreke, TaMya, Tre'Shawn, Janiyah McIntyre and Jocelyn Mayfield, and two great-grandchildren; Hendrix and Khamari McIntyre all of Winston Salem, North Carolina.  Further to cherish his memory are a sister, Lena M. McIntyre, and his favorite cousin Pastor Veronica McNeil both of Lumberton, NC as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other cousins.

Haywood leaves a legacy that reminds us to maintain dignity, always be honest, work hard and if you stay ready; you do not have to get ready "for a fight."

The family will memorialize Haywood McIntyre Jr. in a private service Thursday, February 16, 2023.
