James Edward Boulware was born on September 14, 1942 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to the late Sallie Boulware and Richmond Rogers.

On Saturday July 20, 2024 surrounded by his family, the angel of God whispered to James, saying "Well done, thou good and faithful servant!" The angel then closed his eyes and peacefully escorted him home to rest eternally with the Lord in Heaven.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Anthony Boulware; daughter Karen Finney; siblings, Charner, Terry, Robert and Doris; grandson, Jaquan Rodman and nephews, Freddie Lee, Robert Lee and Charner Lee.

He attended Winston Salem Forsyth County schools.  After 34 years of service, he retired from R J Reynolds.  He was a faithful and dedicated member of Mt. Glory Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and taught Sunday school.

Some of his favorite past times were sharing stories from the past with his buddies at McDonald's and playing pool. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved the Lord, his family, friends and church family.

James leaves to cherish his precious memories to children Darryl (Karen) Finney, Teresa Penn,  Annette (Tommy) Davis, Pat (Anthony) Williams and Sharon (John) Williams; 12 Grandchildren and  17 great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Martha Ray and  Barbara Frost; brothers-in law, Joseph (Anneice) Anthony, Gerald (Treva) Anthony, Reginald (Tanya) Anthony and Christopher(Willette) Anthony; special cousin; Elease Graves;  devoted friends Terry Smith, JD Morrison, Joe Tart and Leon Leaper; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

The family would like to extend a special Thank You to Trellis Supportive Care and Trinity Glen nursing staff for their care of our love one.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am Friday July 26, 2024 in the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 11:00am-11:30am Friday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. His remains may be viewed Thursday from 12pm-6pm at the funeral home.
