James L. Neely aka 'Mr. Mopar" was born October 1, 1954 in Rock Hill, SC to the late Joe Wiley & Willie bell McFadden Neely. He attended the public schools there. Mr. Neely was a resident of Winston-Salem for over 25 years. He was a former employee of Salem Electric Company until his health failed.
Spiritually, he was a devoted member of Middle Fork Christina Church where he was an Associate Pastor, member of the Christian Men's Fellowship and a prayer warrior of the church.
Mr. Neely loved to fish. His greatest love was building car motors, thus where he received the title "Mr. Mopar". He was an avid racing enthusiast.
In the community, Mr. Neely was a member of Olympic Lodge# 795 PHA.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Willie Catherine Robinson and brother Hazel Neely. He departed this life Thursday August 25, 2022 at his residence.
He survived by his wife of 32 years, Carolyn R. Neely; son Jermaine Robinson (India); five grandchildren, Jameka Robinson, Jermaine Robinson, Javier Robinson, Jahala Robinson and Jakeem Robinson; one great grandchild, Ma'Lani Hardy; two sisters, Martha Ragland of NY and Sarah Young of Rock Hill, SC; one aunt, Sarah Cureton of Boston, MD; a host of nieces, nephews , other relatives and friends including devoted friends, Haywood and Equard.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday September 1, 2022r at Middle Fork Christian Church. The family will receive friends from 1:30pm-2:00pm at the church. His remains may be viewed Wednesday August 31, 2022 from 12:00pm-6pm at Hooper Funeral Home.
