Mr. James Allen Smart was born January 1, 1934 to Nero and Shirley Mae Williams Smart in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, He attended the Winston-Salem Forsyth County public schools. Mr. Smart was a retiree of RJ R Tobacco with over 30 years of service. Spiritually, he was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

He was also a veteran of the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter. Dorothy Smart; a son Allen Murray, granddaughter, Shameka McCormick and ex-wife Dorothy Walker Smart.

Mr. Smart departed this life Monday August 30, 2021 at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center.

Survivors include a daughter, Brenda McCormick; six grandchildren, Jessica Smart, Christopher Smart, Andriel McCormick, Kimberly Smart, LaToya Smart and Terry Smart; great grandchildren, Elijah Smart., Danae Schafer, Melanie Smart, Mayze Smart, Brandon Smart, Nevaeh Smart. Savannah Smart and Samajay Smart; two brothers, Donald (Diane) Smart, Calvin Smart; one sister. Delores Smart; and a host of other relatives and friends

A memorial service will be held 1pm Friday September 10, 2021 in the chapel of Hooper Funeral Home.
