James Edward "JE" Thompson departed this life and entered eternal rest on February 04, 2020.  JE was born on June 01, 1935 in Moore County, NC to the late Lena Bell Watson and Fred Thompson. JE attended Public Schools of Robeson County. JE retired from the City of Winston-Salem after 30 plus years of faithful service.  JE was a faithful and active member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church and served as a van driver and member of the Usher Board.

JE was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Thompson; siblings; Junior Thompson, Kenneth Thompson, Thomas Thompson, David Thompson and Louise Thompson.  He was the father of nine children of which five preceded him in death; Ernestine Mackey, Amanda Wilson, Ernest Williams, Dorothy Graham, and William Covington.  He is survived by three daughters, Catherine ( Robert) Smith of Winston- Salem, NC, Vivian (Emmett) McRae of Rennert, NC, and  Linsetta Dodd of Winston-Salem; and one son Earl ( Priscilla) Thompson of Rowland, NC, ten grandchildren, eleven great- grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren; one aunt Doris Inzar of Brooklyn, New York; one sister-in-law Mary McCollum of Winston –Salem of NC; one brother-in-law Julius Baker of Winston-Salem, NC and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends 12 Noon Monday, Feb. 10, 2020 at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church with funeral services following at 12:30pm. Interment will be in Gardens of Memory, Walkertown, NC.
