Obituary

Jane Ann Horton Brown passed away in her home on December 28, 2023 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  She, and her identical twin sister Janice, were born on August 25, 1939 in Portsmouth, Ohio to Madge and Charles Horton. She finished high school in Portsmouth, Ohio.

Following high school Jane moved to New York where she met and married Johnny Brown in 1961 and had three sons.

In 1985, Jane moved to Winston-Salem where her two younger sons finished high school.  Jane worked for many years as a nurse's assistant at various facilities in New York and North Carolina.  She was devoted to her sons, her sisters and her family.  She considered her sons to be her greatest accomplishments.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her sons Jerry (wife, Yolanda) of Dallas, Texas, John of Winston-Salem, and Clyde ("Chuck") (wife, Bierka) of Orlando, Florida as well as her grandchildren, Jonathan, Kellen, Jaden, Jasmin and Jaylah, and her sisters Janice Horton Evans and June Horton Ireland both of Winston-Salem, along with a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and extended family.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Hooper Funeral Home, 1415 East Fourteenth Street, Winston-Salem.  Visitation will be from 11:30-12:00 and the service will begin at 12:00 pm.
