Jessie Jenkins gained her wings September 16, 2021. She was a mother in every aspect of the word and the daughter of the late Thelma Moore and William Jerome Moore, Sr. She was born March 1, 1941 in Franklin, Virginia and received her education in Newport News, Virginia through the public school system. Ms. Jenkins received her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing in Elizabeth, NJ and worked as a nurse for many years in Elizabeth General Hospital. After her stint at Elizabeth General, she later became a private nurse.
Jessie belonged to the Roosevelt Church where she was a deacon and a beloved member. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Jessie's door was always open no matter at what point in your life you were in and she made sure you were fed. Jessie also loved to drive and travel!
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings, Albania Tayler, William Jerome Moore Jr., Booker T. Moore, and Delores Whitehead-Nailer; children, Audrey, Delois, Tyrone, and Alonzo Jenkins.
Jessie leaves to cherish her memory her children: Thelma Moore, Alphonso Jenkins, Angela Jenkins, Albert Jenkins, Cornelius Jenkins, Jero Crowley, Jesse Jenkins, Jr, and Rashaun Jenkins; her brother, James Moore; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
