Ms. Joanne Whitted was born September 29, 1948 in Brooklyn NY to Bertha Brewer. She resided in Kinston, North Carolina for most of her life and was a 1968 graduate of Savannah High School. Ms. Whitted attended Rutgers University. She was a retiree of Wachovia Bank and Trust.

Spiritually, she was a former member of United Progressive Baptist Church where she served as a deaconess, sang on the choir and worked with the finance committee. She later became a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Konnie Robinson.

Ms. Whitted loved to sing and dance. She was the best grandmother, and great grandmother a person could ever ask for. She departed this life Saturday June 19, 2021 at the Lexington Health Care Center.

She is survived by her only daughter, Veronica Cooper of Winston-Salem, NC; a devoted granddaughter, Tasia Little of Cornelius, NC; three great grandchildren, Taylor, Keira and Jayda; four sisters, Patricia Brewer of Kinston, NC, Mary (Lewis) Devlin, Rosalind Graham all of Winston-Salem, NC, Shirley (Joe) Richardson of Kinston, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be private.
